The fight for queer rights cannot be blind to racism. In the NL Queer community and beyond. Our commitment to anti-racism is grounded in the recognition that racism is an undeniable aspect of queer history, one that must be acknowledged and actively addressed. We recognize that racialized individuals have contributed significantly to the progress and equity achieved by the queer community yet have often faced further marginalization within it. Additionally, we realize that cultural appropriation by the queer community has further perpetuated inequalities for racialized queer individuals. .

In our work at NL Queer Research Initiative, we pledge to confront this reality head-on and strive for improvement. We are committed to amplifying the voices of racialized queer individuals, fostering self and community education, and advocating for allyship in dismantling systemic racism in all its forms.
